Why sponsor a child?
Sponsoring a child creates real, lasting opportunities for a child and their family.
How do I sponsor a child?
Simply visit our Sponsor a Child page and click on the link for US or Canada, based on your residence. Jacaranda Kids will reach out and assist you in selecting a child who most urgently needs sponsorship. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].
How long will my sponsorship last?
Ideally, a sponsor partners with a child through their entire academic career. We ask that you commit to at least one year of sponsorship and prayerfully consider sponsorship renewal at the end of each year. The Kenyan school year coincides with the calendar year.
Can I correspond with my child?
We hope to periodically send you letters and/or drawings from your child. If you would like to send a letter to your child, please sign your first name only please. Always include your child’s ID number on any correspondence. Since postal mail is very unreliable, we deliver letters in batches as mission teams head home from Nairobi. Please note, that all letters to and from children in the Jacaranda Kids program are read by our staff to ensure the safety and security of all involved.
Please understand that we cannot accept physical gifts to your child.
How many sponsors can a child have?
We serve children in over 60 schools throughout Nairobi and surrounding areas. School fees vary greatly. In addition, some children are enrolled in boarding schools when conditions at home are not suitable. Multiple sponsors are paired with children whose costs cannot be covered by a single sponsorship. If you wish to know whether your child needs or has another sponsor, please email us at [email protected]
How can I pay for my sponsorship?
We are currently using PayPal to facilitate sponsorship giving. We are planning to implement an interactive sponsorship platform and look forward to introducing it soon.
Is my sponsorship tax deductible?
Yes. Jacaranda Kids is a branch of Jacaranda Community, which is a ministry of Kean and Company, a registered US 501(c)(3) and Canadian Charity.
Who should I contact if I have other questions?
Send all questions, comments or concerns to [email protected].
