Leadership

Garry and Brenda Kean have been ministering together from the young ages of 12 and 14, traveling fulltime internationally for over 30 years.

The Kean’s journey began in Toronto, Canada, and after ten years of being on the road fulltime as evangelists they relocated to Nashville, Tennessee. They spent 12 years in Nashville and continued to reach out to today’s generation with quality and excellence. In September of 2006, Garry and Brenda moved to Kenya with their three girls and their fourth daughter was born in Nairobi.

Brenda was born in Kenya and the people of this nation have always been close to her heart. Her passion is to see spiritual and physical transformation among the women and children living in the slums of Nairobi. Garry is an ordained minister and is not only the pastor of Jacaranda Christian Fellowship, but also a singer/songwriter and recording artist (garrykean.com). The Kean’s four daughters have loved living in Africa and are an important part of the work. Their eldest Kaitlyn (19) is now studying at Azusa Pacific University. There is also Lillian (16), Caeli (14) and Brayden (7).

The Kean’s heart is evangelism! Literally thousands have made decisions for Christ over their many years of ministry together. Discipleship and the training of others remain a vital part of their vision. Planting churches in Nairobi is an important part of the plan, but out of a desire for holistic ministry it became evident that there was so much more to be done in order to see communities transformed.

As a missionary kid growing up in Nairobi, Brenda's favorite tree was the Jacaranda tree.  With its many branches, intricate purple flowers, and deep roots, it beautifully symbolizes the many branches of Jacaranda Community, and the amazing people of Kenya.

Jacaranda Community is a ministry of Kean & Company, Inc. 501 (c) 3 in the US, and Registered Charity in Canada.
